About AED

American Expression of Dance (AED) was founded in January 1994 by Anne Weichers and now serves over 500 students across two locations in the Salt Lake Valley.

We offer both competitive and non-competitive programs, with classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, tumbling, contemporary, and hip hop. Each program is a great option, depending on your time commitment and dance goals. AED is dedicated to developing strong dance technique, showmanship, and confidence in every dancer, regardless of age, ability, or previous experience.

To ensure AED is the right fit for you and your dancer, we offer a free first dance class!

Competitive Program

Our competitive program prepares dancers for high school, collegiate, and professional dance teams. While earning first-place trophies is a goal, our top priority is developing strong, technically trained dancers.

The competitive program is divided into Pre-Company, Company, and Academy, each with its own expectations and time commitments.

Noncompetitive Program

Our non-competitive program offers greater flexibility in both scheduling and commitment. We focus on building strong technique and confidence, helping prepare dancers for a future transition into our competitive program if they choose. Dancers participate in two recitals each year—one in December and one in May.
